Nashville!

My mom came into town to visit for a week back in May so we decided to take an overnight trip to Nashville for our anniversary! This was our first night EVER away from our kids together! We've each done little trips here and there with our siblings but usually one of us stays with the kids. This time, we were able to to something together for once! Zero interruptions for an extended period of time is priceless and we definitely took advantage! Neither of us had ever been to Nashville before so we wanted to check out Broadway and all the amazing live music it has to offer! 

Started the night off pretty early, by the time we got to the city, got checked in, it was only 5pm so we figured, what the hey! Might as well check things out early! Started at the view at the river and then just made our way through each bar (free cover but they did card me a number of times at the entrances. Guess I still don't look my age quite yet! ha!). Considering there were probably somewhere around 10 different bars (some of which had multiple floors with different bands playing) and they changed bands at 6 pm, 8pm, and 10pm, I don't even think I can count how many different performances we saw! It was pretty mind blowing. If there was a band we liked, we would stick around for a quite a few songs and then just leave when we wanted to hear something different! As the night went on, the bands tended to get increasingly better and the bars got increasingly busier. Such a fun night!

One of the earlier bands, but this chick on the fiddle was the best one I've ever heard. No joke! They set the bar HIGH for what to expect in the evening:

Later on, one of the better bands playing at the very famous Honky Tonk Central. Apparently this is where many many famous people got their start is on this stage. Super cool! This place was three stories high, this one being the main stage:

Around 8 we tried out the Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar and this place was amazing! These guys would play by request only. And it didn't matter what song, they knew it and picked it up and rocked the house! There were two different duos, a younger pair and an older and clearly more experienced pair of guys. Seriously so much talent! And hilarious:

 

The next morning, we just stopped by the Grand Ol' Opry briefly to walk around a little:

After this, we made our way back home where the kids had been having a great time with Mema! Thanks so much for watching the kids Mom!! We really appreciated having some much needed time together! And love my hilariously awesome husband. It really was such a blast to explore a new place together.
