Marshall at 7 months

This kid seriously has my heart. I honestly just turn to mush when I see his smiling face every single day. He has the sweetest temperament and funnest little personality. It has been such a fun month watching him grow. He now weighs just over 18 lbs, 26.5 inches long (according to the doc last week).
He officially turned 7 months almost 2 weeks ago and was just figuring out how to sit up. Now, he sits up well on his own and has even started going from sitting position to crawling position! Ahh! can't quite get the coordination of crawling quite yet but he is SO close. Rocking and rolling and army crawling all over the place.
I love the little games he plays with me.... I'll come sit on the floor, focusing on something else and he will roll on over to right next to me and just look at me and make little noises until I look right at him.. Then he will wiggle and squeal and get so excited, even to just have me smile at him! It is the best feeling.

Marshall said his first "word" a few weeks ago.. he knows how to say dadada but it's pretty rare to hear him say it. (I was lucky enough to get a video of it though, posted at the bottom) Not many other syllables but he is a chatter box with squeals and sighs and laughs. Definitely all boy though as most of his noises involve some sort of growl or grunt! I just watched a video of Ivy at this age and she made the most petite girly noises, lol.
A week or two before he turned 7 months, he FINALLY started sleeping pretty consistently through the night (7pm-7am ish) Whew! We are all sooo happy about that. Still wakes up every now and again, for his binky or because of gas, or who knows what, but usually goes right back to sleep after a couple mins. Still takes two naps a day for the most part.

No teeth yet but he recently had a little ear infection. Was clingy and cranky for a few days (within his own realms of crankiness, which actually isn't terrible, lol) but wouldn't eat or nap very well and I could tell he wasn't feeling well. But not a single sign of a tooth! And the pulling on his ear thing was a big tip off.. I took him to the doctor before it got bad. The doctor said it was definitely abnormal and was on it's way to being an infection so we got antibiotics. A couple days later, he was feeling back to his normal smiley self.
Interactions between Ivy and Marshall get funnier by the day! I love how Ivy gets annoyed by him but also has such a cute concern for him at the same time. Every day I hear, "Marshall! No! Don't come over here!" and it cracks me up, especially with Marshall just grinning up at her. Little does she know he will be doing much more than just rolling in her direction soon. I keep trying to tell her he is growing up but not sure she gets it yet. But I also hear her talking or playfully growling at him to make him laugh and then she'll run up to me telling me that he's so happy. Haha!

"I like your toes, Marshall"

Can't get enough of this sweet face!
Marshall just before 7 months and Ivy just over 7 months. Guess you could say the look pretty similar! Marshall is actually quite a big bigger though, Ivy was just a tiny little thing.

Father's Day

With two sickies in the house, we tried to make the most of this handsome guy's Father's Day.... Marshall was finally getting over a little stomach bug he'd had all week but Ivy came with an awful fever on the way to church and halfway through sacrament, she just looked so miserable and begged to leave so we headed home (ironic enough, the power went out just before we left the building and they canceled the rest of church after sacrament meeting anyways, ha). Both kids went down for early naps so we enjoyed a homemade steak fajita lunch together. Later, after Ivy was feeling better, we decided to go on a short hike in Cumberland Gap park. Ivy started to feel pretty lousy again and ended up passed out on the couch for the rest of the afternoon and much of the next day. Not sure what kinda bug it was. Just a strong fever of some sort but luckily it was short-lived.
I am so grateful for Sam in my life and love the person he has become as he takes the role of dad. He cares so much for our kiddos and it really shows when he's with them. He really knows how to make them smile and laugh any time he is around. I love hearing the conversations he has with Ivy and how she just adores every second with him. They are hilarious together. And I love how involved he gets when playing with them down on their level. He really is so much more creative and fun than I am-- but that's what dad's are for, right? ;-) Happy Father's day, babe! And a very happy Father's Day to both our dad's as well!

Vacation to Houston

Took a last minute trip to Houston back in June. I say last minute because we had been thinking of going for a while but didn't really solidify any plans until about 3 days before we left. I was pretty apprehensive about how my kids would do because neither of them had been sleeping very well at night... Either we just wore them out every day or they very much enjoyed the accommodations while being down there because both of them did great! Both were awesome travelers on the way down there AND both slept like rocks every night. Anyways, it really was a great vacation because we just took things easy and enjoyed pool/lake activities every day. We stayed the first half of the week at Dad Robinson's house in Conroe and the last half of the week at Jeff's house on the south side. We were able to visit with lots of family and friends all week long. Big thank you to Dad R. and Trish for letting us come visit! And to Jeff and Michelle for letting us crash your place once again. We really had a blast! And Ivy was talking about Texas and everyone she saw for weeks afterwards. Anywho, didn't really ever get my camera out so just had a bunch of fun phone pics...

Best way to travel! Oh and weaning Marshall just before we left made this drive go so much faster than back in December:

Morning boat ride:

Sam went to go work the cows at dad's ranch while I stayed back and played with my sister and Tiffany and kids at the house:

Tiffany was staying with her parents on the north side of Houston so we were able to meet up again the next day. It was so fun to hang out and let our girls play. It's been probably years since we've been able to spend longer than just an hour together. Doing a little shopping:
More boat fun (not pictured, Emily and kids and her sis Lydia and Dan came to hang out! Such a fun day!):
Charity had this rad mermaid tail and Ivy was totally fascinated. She kept saying "mom I wanna be a mermaid," lol! Finally when the older girls left it to go play something else, I let Ivy have a turn. She was in heaven, as you can see from her face! Haha.. It was the cutest thing:

Down in Pearland for the last half of the week (not pictured, Jessie graduated! Woo! and lots of cousin fun including a birthday dinner for Jacob at a vietnamese place):

Went up to hang out with Kelli, Mom, and best friend Lauren one morning:
Got to enjoy lots of Houston food, of course.. Kolaches and Vietnamese. Mmmm:

Lots of swimming at Jeff's:

This was the longest we've visited Houston during the summertime since Ivy was born (visited for a day or two here and there). We really enjoyed every minute of our trip. And the kids were great travelers on the way home as well! Made it a great ending to a great vacation. We love summer!
