First Father's Day

This year's Father's Day was a fun one because it was Sam's first. Ivy and I were sure to make the day special by surprising him with a couple gifts and a homemade card made by Ivy herself! She worked hard at getting her footprints just right for the front. hehe.. After a yummy cinnamon crumb cake breakfast here at home, we drove up to go to church and have dinner with Sam's dad in Conroe. It was a nice relaxing day filled with family and friends who we always have a blast with.. Happy Father's Day to both our dads! Especially mine who I wasn't able to see that day. Love you Dad! and Happy Father's Day to my love. You are the best husband and dad ever!

Sam's mom made this cookie for him while we were down in Pearland the day before.. yummy!:

in other news...
feathers! I had a lovely giftcard to be able to get my hair cut the other day (soo badly needed).. and all the girls at the salon had these in and i loved them. Thought it would be a fun little accessory for the summertime:

I think he likes her...

Max decided he wanted to share his bone with Ivy the other day. A couple times, I've caught him sitting next to her blanket at attention like he is standing guard. Pretty sure he likes his new baby sister... (don't worry.. we never really let him get closer than this to her, or her face, especially. I'm somewhat of a germaphobe lol)

1 month! Seriously??

Happy 1 month to our baby girl today! I feel like now that we are getting the hang of things, I don't want her to get any bigger! I remember a couple weeks ago, I felt like time was passing so slowly and I just wanted the first couple months to be done with and now I just feel like I want her to stay little forever! Things are going pretty well with feeding and sleeping. We finally have the nursing thing down pretty well and she usually only wakes up once in the night which is awesome for me! (I count this as a long 4 or 5 hr block followed by another 4 hr block after feeding.. occasionally it's less but she is getting better)  I think the biggest adjustment has been how unpredictable she is. especially for someone who is so used to planning ahead, lol. But no worries! It is just teaching me that I need to just go with the flow a little more and enjoy my time with her.
We can't get enough of our little bug. Ivy loves to be up looking around during her play/wake time and especially loves when Daddy is home to play with her. She sure is a wiggle worm when on the floor and loves to swat at her little toys on her jungle gym. She has actually been a pretty alert baby since day one which is usually a good thing, but sometimes tricky when I know she's tired/cranky and needs a nap but just wants to keep staring around haha. This little tidbit has also made it impossible for us to get newborn pics while she's asleep (even though I can always catch her asleep with the iphone and my other camera but anytime we actually attempt to take newborn photos, she wakes right up. such a little turkey, lol). She recognizes both Sam and I's voice and I feel like she is starting to recognize when I hold her compared to other people holding her. She still doesn't fit in to many 0-3 month size outfits or dresses that we have for her yet but I know it's only a matter of time. I'm not sure her exact weight but she is finally filling out the size 1 diapers and the newborn size stuff is just about too small for her so I know we are doing somethin' right! hehe. No coos or smiles yet but she is so close! We can't wait... :)

First boat ride and other fun stuff

First I just wanted to include a couple photos proving to the world that I can be crafty! hahaa.. I started these felt flower clips before Ivy came and I'm just now getting around to finishing them. I got the idea from cocopenny.com as well as some other etsy shops but didn't want to spend the $ and wait for them to come to my house when I figured they looked pretty easy and cheap to make myself.. A couple trips to Joann's and a little creative help from my friend Christa and I got to work! I think they turned out pretty cute:
Ivy's hair is pretty thin so I just attach them to headbands for now.. this one is my favorite so far:
In other news, we headed up to Conroe again for a boating day with some of Sam's family.. They did lots of wakeboarding and wakesurfing while I hung out with Ivy at the house. Then we all headed over to the marina for more gas and a yummy bbq lunch. I was not gonna stay back at the house for that trip so we decided to just bundle Ivy up in a life jacket and take her with us on her first boat ride! I'm so glad we did! She slept the whole time and it was nice for me to get out n go for a ride with everyone...

First restaurant for baby girl:
We were able to snap a few newborn photos while we were there at Dad's and this was after we were done- well, after Ivy was done that is, haha... Just thought these photos were too cute:

Oh yeah, and my husband is awesome (wish I could upload hd videos. anyone know how?):
