I ended up grabbing another pumpkin a few days after we went to the patch just from the grocery store so we could have two to carve. Marshall picked to have a cat and ivy picked a witch on a broom. Sam did the dirty work beforehand, then he carved the witch and I did the cat. I think they turned out pretty good! Kids loved the whole event.

Pumpkin Barn
A couple Saturdays ago, we drove down to a little pumpkin patch just south of Johnson City called the Pumpkin Barn. This place was SO perfect for finding the perfect pumpkin in October. First of all, they had a gigantic barn FULL of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. I didn't know that many different types of gourds existed! It was quite beautiful, actually. Kids thought it was SO cool. They also had a big tractor and a carriage that the kids liked climbing on. Then behind the barn, they had a huge pumpkin patch that you could take a wagon out and clip your own pumpkins from the vine. So we wagoned the kids out to the field and looked around until we found one we liked!
Our spoils from the day! I couldn't help myself and had to get some of their little white pumpkins they had! We painted our white ones and will carve our big one on another day.
Our pumpkin painting sort of carried over to plate painting. Complete with sunset mural as well as Frankenstien and jack-o-lanter variations and Van Gogh Halloween moon mural. Hehe:

Fern Valley Farm with Mom's Club
One morning while Grandma was in town, we met up with Mom's Club at Fern Valley Farm for a fun play date for all the kiddos. We took a hay ride, visited with animals, held bunny rabbits, and decorated tiny pumpkins! Then we enjoyed a nice picnic lunch under the trees right there on the farm. Perfect morning! And so fun to have Grandma with us!
Morning run with my love
While Mom Robinson was in town, we escaped for a morning to get a good quiet run in on the greenbelt. Gorgeous scenery and the perfect company.
Grandma comes to visit
At the beginning of the month, Grandma Robinson came to visit! It was such a fun few days having her here to play games and explore the area a little bit. She came to Fern Valley Farm with the kids and I and we showed her our favorite barbecue place in town. Also drove around Asheville a bit and finished up her visit at another favorite restaurant- Tupelo Honey! The drive down to the airport was so colorful. Glad she was able to see this area in October! We really enjoyed her visit, as usual, and already miss her so much!
