Then we headed up to Salt Lake because Sam's good friend Andy got married that morn and we were invited to the wedding luncheon, which was really fun. everything was so gorgeous! then we came back and celebrated Valentines with Sam's mom who was in town and Steve and Sarra. we had an awesome steak dinner and played games all night. it was so fun! Here are a few pics from throughout the day....

Fun weekend at Amy's

This past weekend we decided to drive up to sam's sis amy's house in shelley, idaho for the weekend. considering she just had a baby and sam's mom was there, we figure it would be a fun time to visit. and it was!! steve and sarra came up with us also and we all had a blast! Amy had her baby last monday and when we saw her on friday she looked amazing and looked like she was feeling great! and baby alex is so cute. we had so much fun playing games with everyone, going out to eat, getting in their awesome jacuzzi and just hanging out.. its nice that they only live 3 hours away and it was also nice for sam's mom to be there visiting too. we had so much fun!
he is so adorable.. matt (amy's hubby) is checkin out his long toes lol:

New Toys....

I havent written in a while so i decided to share some fun stuff today... about a week and half ago, the buttons on my phone decided to stop working. completely. i could still receive calls by sliding it open but i had no way of txting, answering by pressing the green button, or even get to my contacts, let alone call anyone. when i called t-mobile (on another phone), they said it was out of the warranty bc "the little white dot in the back was red.." even tho i never got my phone wet EVER, they still said there was nothing they could do about it and i had to buy a new phone. so after contemplating purchasing a new phone at full price, we decided that i change services and get on sam's plan with him (i was with t-mobile, he was with sprint) to save us money AND to get a better deal on a phone.. all in all, even tho i will have to pay a cancellation fee, we saved money on getting the phone at the new customer price AND it will save us money on our monthly bills. woohoo! so this is the phone i chose. it IS pink and i love it (ps the pic doesnt do the color justice.. its more of a powder pink). its touch screen and so fun. i can check my email and even get on facebook on it lol..
also, our cheap vacuum broke like 6 months ago and we never got around to getting a new one.. the other day we both looked at our floor and realized we REALLY needed a vacuum so we finally went out and bought one haha.... we decided not to get a dinky little cheap one again, instead we got ourselves a real one this time LOL.. its a kenmore upright with a bag, not too expensive. ive always had bagless so we will see how it goes. i used it on my whole apt. tonight and so far i LOVE it. plus its so pretty hehe..
other than getting a couple new fun toys, school has been CRAZY busy.. tests, papers, concerts, me teaching a couple voice lessons(for a class), and other various practices going on. sam has spent some of his time working on composing some fun songs with all his sound recording gear lately and i have an opera thing in a couple weeks plus a recital in march so i have been booked with all sorts of rehearsals and practice. it will be nice when opera scenes are over and i have a little more free time to focus on my recital and of course on things like hanging out with my hubby more or blogging haha...

Christmas break in Texas

Ok so this is a pretty long post but i had to include everything! For the christmas break this year, we were able to go down to visit our families in texas and it was so much fun! we started the break with Sam's Dad's annual family christmas party that lasted all day and night (we went straight to his ranch in huntsville, tx as soon as our plane landed, lol). after a hot dog bbq for lunch, there was a jingle bell fun run hosted by Jessie for everyone to participate. it was a 2 mile run from the house to the front gate and back. this was quite a challenge for me because not only have i never run a full 2 miles before, this was up and down some steep hills! it was waay hard but really fun!

Me and whitney right after the run. she was my running buddy :)
after the race, there were a lot of games happening in the barn. then we all started to prepare for dinner, and even had an appearance by santa himself! after dinner, we all opened gifts together. all the girls got a beautiful pandora bracelet and all the guys got their very own professional ping pong paddle that had a plate on the bottom with their names engraved. we both love our gifts! thanks dad and tricia!

The next day, we went over to my sister kelli's to visit and see my new nephew for the first time! michael alexander stracener. he is soo cute! and alexa is getting so big! she is so fun! it was nice to see my fam....hanging out with sam's mom during the week before christmas. these little cute girls are sam's nieces-stephanie and liz:This was christmas eve at kelli's house. we made gingerbread (graham cracker) houses after our big christmas dinner. it was so fun! and yummy hehe:

So my parents got us some really neat stuff from their trip to japan and an awesome gift card to pf changs, our favorite! thanks mom and dad! my mom also got my sister and i a gift certificate to get pedicures together which was really fun too... here they are sporting their new BYU attire that we got for them! yay!:
Christmas morning with sam's fam.. here he is with stephanie:
for christmas sam surprised me with a new snowboarding jacket and snow pants (and some cute scarves)! they are awesome! he also got me my nintendo DS that i really wanted AND my juicy couture purfume. i was certainly very spoiled this christmas lol.. I got him a really nice sweater, one of his favorite movies "dirty rotten scoundrels," aand his surprise was some new cologne that i knew he really wanted. it is Versace for men and it smells sooo good! sam also got a really nice new brown coat from his mom. thanks mom! we also got her an awesome BYU jacket! yay! lol:

Sam and steve/sarra on the motorcycles... we went with jeff/michelle and dan for a fun christmas day ride:
hangin with my girl tiffany. there was a night we hung out with natalie too but i didnt get pics of it:
this was back at the ranch a few days after christmas. we stayed there for the majority of the last week we were in texas:

my first time driving the 4wheeler by myself. now THAT was fun! the hill in the second pic (with sam) is a lot steeper and taller than it looks in the pic lol:

brushing Maya before i rode her a little bit... sam was on Tex and loved riding him around. he even went out with dan for a while and drove the cattle all around the property. it was very entertaining to watch from the house haha.. i think the movie australia made sam wanna herd those cattle around a little lol:

So the night of New years came around, and my camera died two minutes before midnight!!!! so i didnt get any cute pics of the actual new years minute nor the kiss :) but here is a pic of our toast (with martinelli's of course). HK stands for High Kaliber which is the name of sam's dad's ranch:
All in all, we had a great break and had a lot of fun being able to spend time with all of our family and friends. plus it was nice to get out of the frozen iceland for a while and actually wear flip flops and T shirts lol... i only felt like 2 weeks was not long enough though! hopefully we can go back and visit sometime this summer or so.....

My Christmas Wishlist

So i saw that my friend christa posted on her blog a really cute wishlist of what she wants for christmas and decided it would be fun to do the same. I know i am not going to get ALL the things on my list but its still fun to find pics of any of the things i would love to get. some things i REALLY want, then others i know i want but im prolly not going to get right now haha... anywho, i know sam will read this so my message to him is-- these are things that i would love to have. feel free to get me anything from this list. hehe

Perfume is probably #1 on my list because i've been wearing the same scent for years and years. this first one is viva la juicy by juicy couture and the second is dkny delicious.
I really want some new boots for this coming winter. i originally wanted snow boots but cant really find a pair that i really like. the ones in this pic come pretty close. or i would LOVE some black boots like these ones:

I have always wanted a griddle. We even got one for our wedding but somehow it got returned so since then, i have wanted one lol:I really really need a new plain silver necklace chain of some sort because the one i normally use broke recently:
for some reason i have lost track of the 1 or 2 scarves i have had over the years so i really want a new scarf like this style:
Ok i love this game. its not very high up on my wishlist but i do want it someday:
Long sleeved shirts and sweaters are on the list bc a lot of my winter clothes have gotten very old. especially something like this from victoria's secret:
This is last on the list because i know it is not a necessity nor is it very practical but i really do want a Nintendo DS someday. they are just so fun!

Having these things would be really fun but i know that when it comes to christmas, what is most important and what i am most excited for is being down in houston and having tons of fun while spending time with both our famlies. i am so excited to see everyone this christmas break- especially kelli's new baby boy that she is having tomorrow, yay! (I am only sad that i wont have a chance to see my sisters in cali this season, maybe sometime next semester i will try to come visit.) Anyways, i just really feel that Christmas is most fun when you are able to spend it with the ones you love and i am grateful for the time sam and i will have to spend together (not having to focus on school at all), as well as time we will have with family and friends.
