The Davies' Come to visit!

Sam's sister Patrice and her family were able to stop by for a short visit on a detour from a cheer competition that Jill was participating in near the area! We were SO glad they were able to make time to visit! Short and sweet, we tried to fill it with as much Appalachian adventure that they could handle! We took them for a hike near our house up to a Fire Tower at Bay's Mountain, then spent some time at our house after, admiring the fireflies. :) The next day, we drove them down to Roan Mountain for a hike on the trail that we went to on Father's Day. We just thought it was too beautiful not to share! We had so much fun visiting while we hiked. And my kids were so happy to have cousins to play with for a couple days! Finished off their visit with some good ol' Tennessee BBQ from our favorite dive nearby, then said goodbye! Short and SO sweet! Thank you so much for coming to visit, Eric and Patrice! We miss you guys already!!!
Roan Mountain:

Father's Day at Roan Mountain

For Father's Day, I had asked Sam what he wanted to do for the day and his only response was, I want to be on top of a mountain somewhere. Ha! Lucky for him, I'd heard of this hike a short drive from our house down on Roan Mountain that had Rhododenron's blooming and also had a "bald" that you could hike to. We packed a lunch, set off for the day and climbed a mountain! I don't think either of us expected this place to be as beautiful as it really was. The views were incredible! And the flowers blooming made it that much more amazing. These are all taken from our beautiful hike! Love Roan Mountain and the Appalachia! I don't think there is much to say about Father's day, mostly because I feel like a lot of the pics I post on here make it so obvious how amazing of a dad he is! He is the kids' best friend and knows just how to make them laugh when they are having a rough go. His creativity in playing with the kids always has me thinking to myself "how does he come up with this stuff?" and it keeps all our lives so fun and exciting. Love you, babe! And love our own dad's on this holiday as well! So grateful for all they continue to do for us in our lives! Big Happy Father's Day to Sam and Dad Brown and Dad Robinson!

Trip to LA, Part 4, Malibu and Huntington

We went to a morning-after breakfast for the wedding party to say one last goodbye to the new Mr. and Mrs.! So glad we were able to be a part of Jason and Tiff's amazing wedding weekend!

We had one last full day to spend in Cali before flying out the next morning so we took a drive up the coast to see all the different parts between south LA and Malibu. Loved this drive! The sea air did wonders for me. I love being near the coast! Malibu was amazingly beautiful but wanted to head back down to let the kids play at Huntington for the rest of the day. So, a little while later, we drove back, walked along the pier for an ice cream treat, then parked it in the sand for a while! Ate dinner on a little place on the beach, then headed out to where we were staying before flying back home! Fun fun weekend!
The next day we flew back east. This little boy fell asleep and didn't move a muscle for quite sometime. I think it's safe to say he was worn out from so much playing! Such a great weekend!
