Big South Fork Race

A couple Saturdays ago, we headed to Big South Fork State Park just east of us here in TN. Sam signed up to do a race that day and we woke up early and drove out to make it in time for the 8:30 start time.. It was a 17.5 mile race throughout the state park and Sam said it was probably his favorite run on trails thus far. He said they ran along rivers, atop ridges, through cave type formations, and climbed a few ladders at some point. He LOVED it! And his time wasn't too bad either! He was aiming for 3 hours so we were a little surprised when he came through the finish a whole 12 minutes sooner than expected - time 2:48:50. Way to go Sam!! He was far more prepared for this race than his half marathon and felt much better afterwards, aside from sore legs of course.. It was great prep for his 50K (about 30 miles) coming up in a month or so.... And yes I know, there are lots of pics. That tends to happen now that I have a better camera with me these days, lol...

Pre-race!

Ivy and I took a drive to Mcd's for a smoothie then came back and chilled at the little area near the finish line. She wandered over to this perfectly place pile of leaves and jumped right in. So funny that kids know exactly what to do with a pile of leaves, hehe. It was the perfect little impromptu photo shoot with her while we waited for daddy:

I just love my goofy girl! She is looking so grown up these days..
Here's a couple pics from Sam's phone while during his run.. Looks like fun!

At the finish! Notice the clock turned off in the right pic.. It stopped working literally 2 mins before he came through, darnit! Good thing he had his GPS on him to tell him his time. That was nice. Awesome job babe! We are so proud of you! Loving this new hobby he's found and loves.
