Ramsey Creek and Harvey in Houston

Earlier in September, Houston was hit with a devastating hurricane named Harvey. It was sort of a surreal morning, as we were enjoying Ramsey Creek (a man made beach on one of the peninsulas of Lake Norman), we were receiving pictures from Houston of all the damage and flooding. It was a wonderfully relaxing morning in the sun with our kids, even if we were still a little worried about family in Texas.

Weekend with Dan and fam

We spent Labor Day weekend at Dan's house doing all sorts of activities together--tennis, disc golf, games, etc! Fun with family! 

First day of 1st grade

My sweet girl before her first day at her new school! She was pretty set on riding the bus so I guess you could say she was ready! She is super excited to meet new friends and to see what this new school is all about! Yay for first grade! Also had to include a picture of Marshall at her bus stop. He wasn't thrilled that she got to go and he didn't. The last pictures are of her second day. Marshall wanted to be in the pictures. He sure loves his big sis! 

Kid's activities!

This school year is in full swing with the kids' afterschool/weekend activities! Ivy has chosen to keep doing Gymnastics as well as add Ballet to the schedule this year. She loves her dance teacher and the music she plays in class! Marshall has started Soccer Shots.. a fun soccer program for littles who are just learning soccer! No real games yet, just lots of fun learning the sport and how to play! Busy week for us! 

Eclipse with neighbors

This was really an amazing occurrence we got to witness! The solar eclipse on August 21st.  What better way to spend the day than with good neighborhood friends and sprinklers. We were prepared with glasses for everyone and kept going back and forth between watching the eclipse and playing in the water! When it got to the full eclipse, he headed to the front yard to get the best view of the neighborhood when it got dark. I would say it didn't turn completely nighttime, more just dusk looking. But the streetlights did come on! There were also crazy shadows all over the ground of the eclipse shape. Our other neighbor Chris came out and snapped a group shot with his polaroid and you can see what the lighting was like in that photo the best! Exciting day!
