Marshall turned 2 years old back on December 3rd! Always so amazing to me how fast these years are flying by. I don't even remember what life was like before him! He is such a joy in our family and makes every single one of us smile every day! I feel bad that I haven't recorded more about this kid's personality this past year so just wanted to write a little bit about him! The thing that is special about Marshall is that he is just such a happy kid! I mean he has his moments, like every toddler, but he is so easy to please and laid back!
Marshall really is a big talker these days. He actually says quite a few phrases and really understands everything we tell him. For the most part, it's all pretty articulate too! He answers questions clearly and has a TON of words and phrases. The other day he was pointing to the tv saying "Mommy, a dragon! They're flying. A flying dragon!" Lol! I feel like his vocabulary grows by the day! It has been a big (and fun!) change for me since Ivy's talking skills developed a little later.
The day of his birthday, we let him open a few gifts in the morning, then I took him to toddler time at the library with his sweet friend Ada:
Marshall's favorite food these days is Danimal yogurts, goldfish, cucumbers, chicken/pork/beef (meat eater for sure!), hot dogs, applesauce, waffles, cheese, and CHOCOLATE. He likes sugary things ok but I can tell that he is a more savory/salty sorta kid.. unless chocolate is involved. Then he is all over it. Hilarious to me how different my kids are, even down to their diets!
This kid is obsessed with all things that GO! Cars, trucks, tractors, trains, airplanes-- if it makes a noise and has wheels of some sort, he is all over it. Hence, the new vehicles for his birthday! He also loves animals! Lion, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffes, He knows them all and the sounds they make.
Another fun quality about Marshall is how good he is on his feet! He has such amazing balance and coordination already. He can run, jump, and skip around without ever falling down! I've even seen him run down slopes or inclines and slow himself down at the bottom. He doesn't ever fall on his face like I expect him to! Haha! When he jumps off of things, even higher things, he always lands on his feet. I literally hold my breath when I see him jumping off my bed, but he is always fine. Probably will give me heart attacks the rest of my LIFE! He is an adrenaline junky for sure! The faster he goes and higher up he is, the better.
He really is a rough and tumble kinda kid. Hardly whines about falling or scratching himself. High pain tolerance I guess! He's always on the go and nothing stops him! Pushing his school bus or train all over our house, loading it up with little toys, then if he bumps into anything or ever falls, its never a big deal. He just dusts himself off and keeps going! He even hates when I put bandaids on cuts and will just whine about it until I take it off. No matter if it's on his leg, fingers, feet, the kid hates bandaids. LOL!
Lately he has been obsessed with dinosaurs so we got him this fun little bucket filled with all different dinos for his birthday. He even knows which one is a pterodactyl and t-rex! not sure where he learned those but it's so cute to listen to him play and roar with them. All boy for SURE!
Marshall is also cool to just sit and chill sometimes too. Most mornings that Ivy goes to school, he almost prefers to stay home and just play with his toys on his own and watch some shows. He doesn't mind the alone time! Sometimes I think he's a little bit more introverted than Ivy is in that aspect (Ivy craves social interaction all day, every day). Or maybe just a homebody. He loves to stay here and play just as much as he loves going to the park with friends. Easy for me!
I will do a separate post about his balance bike escapades soon but just also have to include that he is riding his balance bike super well these days. Cruises easily alongside Ivy, which makes going on walks easy and fun! Only took him a month or two to figure it out. I always get comments at the park about how little he is and how fast he can go. It cracks me up! Guess he was born to ride!
Naturally we had to throw some of his dinosaurs on his cake to make it more fun! His reaction to the cake cracked me up...
We just love this sweet boy so much. This past year really has gone by way too fast! He doesn't seem like a baby anymore! It has been so much fun watching him grow and learn new things every single day!
